152 | Cleaning Up The Mental Mess (P2)

WITH DR. CAROLINE LEAF

You don’t need a disease label to validate what you are going through. If you’re human and you are, and if you’re alive and you are then you are a mental mess which is inevitable. We don’t know how to react perfectly to every situation. It’s very experimental.
— Dr. Caroline Leaf

About This Episode:

So often our responses to life circumstances stem from what we believe to be true about those circumstances. And if those responses are seen through the lens of trauma and crisis then it can cause us to lose hope quickly.

That is why it is so important to have a mind management system in place to help you embrace, process and re-conceptualize what you are thinking feeling, and choosing.

Today on the podcast we are continuing with part two of the conversation with Dr. Caroline Leaf.

Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology.

She has helped hundreds of thousands of students and adults learn how to use their mind to detox and grow their brain to succeed in every area of their lives, including school, university, and the workplace. Dr. Leaf is also the bestselling author of Switch on Your Brain, Think Learn Succeed, Think and Eat Yourself Smart, and many more.

What offers people hope and help is when they know you’ve actually walked through it.
— Sarah E Ball

About Sarah:

She went from a self proclaimed ‘suck it up princess’ to fearing for her life. It was a mental breakdown after her fifth child that changed everything. As a driven and talented mommy blogger she was always on the move, pushing herself to be better every single day.

One afternoon she got on the treadmill for her regular workout but she soon realized something was terribly wrong when her heart rate would not go back to normal. Fearing she was having a heart attack, she called 911 and the braced for the worst. What she thought was a heart attack turned out to be the first of many panic attacks that would alter Sarah’s life.

Sarah E. Ball, is an author, speaker, mom of five and mental illness survivor. She inspires others to live fearlessly by sharing her humour, vulnerability and wisdom on overcoming anxiety and depression. Sarah offers fearless hope to many through her blog - saraheball.com , online courses, speaking and book - Fearless in 21 Days, A Survivor’s Guide To Overcoming Anxiety.

You don’t want to miss this two-part conversation with Sarah E. Ball. This conversation is completely changed my view point on mental health. As a survivor of anxiety and depression myself I realized that there is still so much I have to learn. Sarah candidly shares her story, and how she has over come anxiety, depression as well as harm OCD.

In the second part of the conversation we touch on how we can be restored body, soul and spirit. And what does that look like for us in a practical sense. You’re going to find this episode so helpful.

In the first part of the conversation we touch on the reason people struggle to overcome mental health and instead of getting help they make their lives small to accommodate their illness.

We talk about the church, and how it handles mental health, and what we need to be doing.
